Butterfly Effect Wellbeing is a growing mental health charitable organisation supporting people experiencing mental ill health, emotional distress, isolation, and suicidal ideation. Our centre provides a safe, non-judgemental environment where individuals receive peer support, structured activities, crisis guidance, and opportunities to rebuild confidence and connection.

We are now recruiting a compassionate, confident and grounded Social Wellbeing co-ordinator to help us deliver safe, inclusive, and empowering sessions for our service users.

About the Role

As a Social Wellbeing co-ordinator, you will:

  • Deliver safe, structured, and inclusive wellbeing sessions aligned with our charity’s values

  • Hold boundaries and maintain a calm, supportive environment

  • Support individuals with empathy while maintaining professional distance

  • Recognise when individuals may need additional support and escalate concerns appropriately

  • Develop and shape our wellbeing programme, introducing new sessions and activities

  • Provide guidance and support to volunteers and activity facilitators

  • Help ensure day‑to‑day smooth running of the centre, including opening/closing, safety checks, and basic administration

  • Work closely with the wider team to continually improve our service and meet community needs

This role is emotionally sensitive and based within a mental health setting. You are not required to provide therapy, but you must be able to remain steady, compassionate, and keep boundaries in complex or emotional situations.

Who We’re Looking For

Essential qualities:

  • Warm, empathetic, patient, and non-judgemental

  • Confidence in leading group sessions and managing group dynamics

  • Ability to stay calm under pressure and make sound decisions

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Self-awareness and ability to maintain professional boundaries

  • Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, and appropriate information sharing

  • Reliable, organised, and able to work independently

  • IT skills - Microsoft/SharePoint

Desirable:

  • Experience facilitating wellbeing or peer-support groups

  • Lived experience of mental health (stable and well‑reflected)

  • Training in mental health support, counselling skills, or community work

  • First Aid / Mental Health First Aid
