Pam
Volunteer
I first met Angie nearly four years ago and we soon became friends over our shared interest in all things healing, in particular sound therapy and drumming. I began to attend Angie’s meditation sessions in a local hall . From the moment I met Angie her goal was always to secure a home for Butterfly and it’s ever expanding groups and activities. I remember when Angie was overjoyed to be offered the cabin at Paringdon and it soon became a busy hive of activity but it quickly became apparent that the space was no longer big enough for all the people that wanted to access what Butterfly had to offer. When Angie was offered the Latton Bush bungalow she didn’t hesitate to take it on despite all the work that it needed and the cost, she continued to raise as much money as she could with the help of the volunteers, she didn’t once waiver from her goal. Angie’s passion and commitment to Butterfly and what it can do for others is infectious.
When I am able I help out as a stand in volunteer at the Social Support Group and fundraising events. I was already trained as a Mental Health First Aider so it was a good opportunity to use my existing skills. This year I completed the Gong Practitioner Training and I now run the Sunday evening gong bath, it is a privilege to play the gongs for others in the sanctuary of the cabin. I’ve met some really lovely people at Butterfly both service users and volunteers, it is a place where all are Welcomed and I’m proud to be part of the Butterfly family.
